Mevris Platform 4th Generation has been Launched!

The Humble Start

In the summer of 2016, the young and energetic Director of Marketing and Sales of Orient Group of Companies, Abdul Rehman Talat formed a technology development wing “BlueEast”.

Our primary mission is to transform the business of the group from home appliances and consumer electronics to technology.

Mr. Talat recently shared, “When we started; the thoughts and the concerns at that time were significantly different from the ones we have today!”.

He candidly spoke, “We were worried how things will work-out? Will people understand the concept of our product? Would customers consider us or not?”.

And then the miracle happened! A one man’s dream grew to a technology house that is competing on the national and international venues.

Unprecedented Growth

Our growth Journey since 2017

We went live with Mevris “Make Everything Smart” — an IOT platform on June 01, 2017. The growth since 2017 has been phenomenally surpassing all of our estimates.

Month over Month Activation Growth

Our customers were thrilled with the ability to control and monitor their air conditioners from their cell phones on the go for the first time! Each new year came with more users and activations than the previous year.

Talking with BlueEast teams, Mr. Talat said, “At the start; we had our doubts that would we be able to build and manufacture the product? We strived for several years to search and put together a talented team and then gather them on a single platform”.

We know Mevris behavior was not at its best

Along the way, the unprecedented growth of users had a toll on our systems which didn’t perform at an optimum level under high seasonal loads of air conditioners and users during the summer seasons.

Our valued customers routinely reported that the process of configuring the air conditioners to connect to the Mevris Platform while ensuring maximum security was the most problematic part of our platform.

Abdul Rehman Talat speaking at a company event, “When I look upon the problems and issues we have today… these are very different from the issues we had in the start”. He shared,” Today the issue is that there is so much load, so many customers… too much scale in so much short time…”

The lessons learned

We learned a lot about the human-centric and user-friendly design shortcomings of our platform.

The team brain-stormed and simplified the air conditioner configuration process while still ensuring that security remains intact. The apps were re-engineered from the ground-up. Brand new servers were designed based on micro-services architecture to ensure load critical functionalities running on server-less computing on-demand infrastructure.

Intense automated testing, continuous integration and deployment regime was introduced to streamline the development process and enhance the overall quality of the product while ensuring accelerated time to market.

Abdul Rehman shared, “I think that the evolution and the latest problems in itself is a very big success! Now we don’t have the basic issues that whether our product will work or not? We have come very far away from our previous issues! Now the problem is how to handle so many customers, so many devices… so much data!”

4..3..2..1 and Lift Off!

The Mevris team is pleased to launch the Mevris 4th Generation Platform. The platform has been built from scratch based on the feedback of our customers.

The new Mevris app is available on both the Apple App Store as well as Google Play Store.

The new platform will be introducing a suite of new features as well as address the user-friendliness and scaling to immense seasonal demands of the customers at its core.

Mr. Talat dedicated the success and the journey to the BlueEast team, “I think each one of you has contributed to the success of Mevris; those who have left us during the journey and those who have joined us recently; and those who are with us from the start! I would like to especially thank them who are with us from the beginning. They came with us… shaping our small dream into a huge dream of their own!”

The Mevris Platform 4th Generation has been launch with several new features that would help our customers to embark on a journey of comfort, convenience, energy-saving, and resource management.

The features will be rolled-out in phases to all existing and new customers.

Social Logins

Social Logins

Mevris users will be able to login to the platform using their Facebook and Google accounts. iPhone users will also be able to use their Apple ID to login to the platform.

Our primary aim is to help our customers to embed Mevris platform and apps into their daily life.

Few select users will have the Social Login features from day 1 while the feature will be rolled out to the rest of the customers in phases.

Diagnostics App

Mevris users can now view diagnostics information about their air conditioners as well as other appliances using the Diagnostics App.

The Diagnostics feature provides a visual status of all the critical components of their air conditioners and users can be sure that their appliances are working at their optimum performance.

In the future, more details regarding the diagnostics would be introduced.

Smart Clean

Mevris enabled air conditioner users will be able to maximize and restore thermal comfort performance and energy saving of your smart appliance by letting Artificial Intelligence execute Auto Cleaning of critical components when the need arises.

Air conditioners users can use Smart Clean feature to ensure their air conditioners achieve 80% energy savings.

This feature requires Firmware OTA (Over-The-Air) upgrades to the air conditioners and can take up to a few weeks before this feature is available to all Mevris enabled air conditioner users.

Predictions

Predictions

A more visual way of predicting the time to reach set-point temperatures and the electricity costs for the thermostat set-point for Mevris enabled air conditioners.

The Mevris Artificial Intelligence takes into account dynamics of your room, your thermal load, outside weather, the hour of the day and several other parameters to predict the thermal comfort time and cost at each set-point of the thermostat.

Autopilot: Max-BTU Profile

Let your Mevris Artificial Intelligence take over your air conditioner controls through 5 profiles of Autopilot.

Max-BTU Autopilot profile helps users to achieve their thermostat set-point by maximizing the cooling speed through maximum BTUs transferred to the room. Once the set-point is achieved the air conditioner returns to cruising mode and saves energy.

This feature requires Firmware OTA (Over-The-Air) upgrades to the air conditioners and can take up to a few weeks before this feature is available to all Mevris enabled air conditioner users.

Autopilot: Differential Profile

Autopilot: Differential

Differential Autopilot profile helps users to achieve their thermostat set-point by maximizing the cooling or heating speed while also saving energy at the same time. This mode is relatively slower than the Max-BTU profile but helps saves energy.

This feature requires Firmware OTA (Over-The-Air) upgrades to the air conditioners and can take up to a few weeks before this feature is available to all Mevris enabled air conditioner users.

Autopilot: Balanced Profile

Autopilot: Balanced

Balanced Autopilot profile helps users to save energy while ensuring comfortable temperatures.

The Balanced mode keeps the room temperature between 23C to 26C thus providing optimum energy savings and ensuring comfort according to ASHRAE standards.

This feature requires Firmware OTA (Over-The-Air) upgrades to the air conditioners and can take up to a few weeks before this feature is available to all Mevris enabled air conditioner users.

Autopilot: Round Robin

Round Robin Autopilot profile helps users to save more energy while ensuring comfortable temperatures.

The Round Robin mode modulates the thermostat set-points between 2 temperatures, one near the desired set-point and one quite lower than the desired set-point. This slows down cooling or heating operation but ensures that comfort is maintained and energy is saved while air conditioning.

This feature requires Firmware OTA (Over-The-Air) upgrades to the air conditioners and can take up to a few weeks before this feature is available to all Mevris enabled air conditioner users.

Autopilot: Incremental

Incremental Autopilot profile helps users to save maximum energy while slightly comprising comfort.

The Incremental mode cools or heats the room one degree at a time thus saving a huge amount of energy while considerably slowing down the air conditioning speed. This mode is perfect for moments when the room is unoccupied.
